The Fiol Foundation is a non-profit, volunteer, and tax exempt organization that promotes medical and psychosocial research directed to the advancement in knowledge, understanding and treatment of the Epilepsies in Puerto Ricans in the island and Latinos in Minnesota.
La Fundación Fiol una organización de voluntarios, sin fines de lucro, fundada por la familia Fiol de Puerto Rcio, que promueve la investigación medica y sico-social dirigida a avanzar el conocimiento, entendimiento y el tratamiento de la epilepsia en Puerto Rico y latino residentes en el estado de Minnesota, USA.
There are 300,00 latinos in Minnesota many without adequate health care and largenumber suffering from health disparities as compared to other groups. A unknownnumber of these suffer from recurrent seizures or epilepsy. The Fiol Family is from Puerto Rico and many of its members reside in Minnesota and want to contribute to improve the life of these Latinos in Minnesota suffering from Epilepsy. The Foundation supports research directed to solve the disparities. In Minnesota, The Foundation collaborates with the Epilepsy Foundation of Minnesota, The University of Minnesota Program on Health Disparity Research, and the Minnesota Epilepsy Disparity Task Force.
